Los tostones son un delicioso plato tÃpico de varios paÃses latinoamericanos y caribeños, especialmente popular en Puerto Rico, República Dominicana y Cuba. Se preparan a partir de plátanos verdes, que son pelados, cortados en rodajas gruesas y fritos dos veces. La primera fritura ablanda el plátano, y después de ser aplastados para formar discos planos, se frÃen nuevamente hasta quedar crujientes y dorados. Los tostones suelen servirse como acompañamiento o aperitivo, a menudo sazonados con sal y a veces acompañados de ajo o salsas.
